Or maybe you're one of them! ♠ 12. It's a long line at whatever vendor you're at. Make small talk with nearby civilians or try and haggle the vendor down to a better price.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure I know where I sit.

[Wan waved it off, not wanting to go into details.]

It was before the Air Nomads changed their tattoos so they had arrows on them. I was only joking about them being wrong, but... they really were different once, a long, long time back.

Really? Why wouldn't they have arrows on them? [It's curious, not accusatory.] We use arrows because of the arrows on the sky bison. Then again... there's a lot of air nomad history I never got to learn.

Oh. That makes a lot more sense! I'm from before your ancestors met the Sky Bison and learned how to use the power of air from them! Before that they just used the power of air when the Li-

[Wan cut himself off and bit his lip.]

Actually, that's a lot to go into right now. But the tattoo thing does make a lot more sense knowing it's because of the Sky Bison. I guess that's probably why only Air Nomads who have mastered the power of air get the tattoos anymore, too.

[He nods along. He does pause to raise an eyebrow at his cut-off, ut he doesn't pay much mind to it and continues to listen along.]

That does make sense. There's so much of air nomad history I never got to learn about. I wouldn't mind hearing more about what they were like in your time... but I guess now might not be the best time.

[He smiles meekly.] We're both getting used to being out of our own time, after all.

I'd love to tell you what I know. It's not a lot, but I don't mind sharing.

[He glanced around the area and realized there were more than a few groups of tourists giving Aang mild glares and when he concentrated mutters of 'disrespectful' were brought to his ears by the air.

Wan put a hand on his hip and gestured in the general direction of the museum entrance.]

Why don't we get out of here? We can find a quite place to talk.

[he frowns just slightly at what he manages to overhear. It's one of the less pleasant reactions he's attracted today. But he nods at Wan.]

Thank you, Wan. Sure... Let's head on outside. [He then glances around, trying to remember where the closest exit is.]

Don't let them get to you. They don't know it's your statue outside.

[Wan murmured as he led the way out, now familiar enough with the Museum to do that from pretty much any of the public areas.]

Hey, do you want to get lunch? I know a great spot to go fishing!

Wait... do you eat fish?

[Hadn't he read something about Air Nomads not eating meat? But was it just regular meat only or all meat?]

[He smiles warmly at Wan's reassurance as he heads outside; he's already feeling better.]

Nope, no fish! Nothing that loses a life. But I am kinda hungry...

[His stomach growls loudly in agreement.]

[Wan put his hands on his hips and frowned to himself as he looked around to glance a the few vendors in the area. Pretty much all of them sold meat... oh wait! there was one that had vegetable rolls and sweet cakes. It advertised itself as 'food in the spirit of the Air Nomads'. So it was probably safe enough.]

Hold on, I'll be right back.

[Wan grinned and jogged off toward the stand.

He had no money on him.]

Okay, seeya soon! [He'll just stay standing in place and whistling as he waits. But his eyes will follow Wan as long as he's in his line of sight.]

[If Aang continue to watch and doesn't get distracted, he'll see wan go to the semi-vegetarian cart and start chatting up the owner. And while he's chatting up the owner, he'll be leaning forward and dropping one arm behind him. That arm will then start waving in a slow circle. In short order a 'sudden' gust of wind would come in from off the water and be just strong enough that the owner had to duck her head behind one arm. Wan did the same, of course, but he also passed his hand over the food as he oh-so-naturally reached out to balance himself on the cart so he didn't fall over. After the wind died down, he seemed to share a joke with the owner and then jogged back to Aang while waving to the food peddler.

When he got back to Aangs side, he dipped his hand into his shirt and pulled out a lettuce wrap. Unfortunately the peddler had noticed the food was gone by that point and started shouting and calling for the guards.

Wan grinned and tucked the food back into his shirt before Aang could take it as he took a couple steps to the side, readying himself to run.]

We should go. Now.

[Only then, did Wan jump the side of the plaza and head for the waterline beyond the craggy rocks below.]

[Aang stared on in confusion the whole time, convincing himself that he must have been witnessing something entirely different then what he thought he was seeing.

Then he catches sight of the lettuce wrap, glances back towards the peddler, and his eyes widen in panic. Then he quickly jumps and runs in quick pursuit of Wan.]

What did you do! [As if it was still a mystery.]

[Wan didn't even bother breaking his fall with any sort of bending, hitting the rocks and sliding down them with an ease of practice that made it clear he was more than used to moving through rough terrain on foot.]

What do you think I did?

[He yelled back, laughing while the guards behind them chose to try and bring a boat around to catch them instead of following them down the rocks. By the time Wan was at the water, the boat was roaring over to meet him. Wan greeted it with a cheeky grin and leapt from the rocks to the front of the boat and then into the air, catching a self-made cloud on the way.]

Hurry up or they're going to get you!

[Not that they'd be hard to find later, right? I mean, how many of the 'new' airbenders were known to use their bending to help them steal from someone? ~~sorry kai~~]

[Sliding down rocks - that looks dangerous! Aang just uses an air scooter to speed up and avoid that business.]

S-something bad! You didn't have to do that for me...

[It is kind of fun in a way, though. Once they reach the water, Aang opts to run on it, although he is confused by Wan's move.]

Whoa, how are you doing that?

[Something bad? Please. He has done so much worse than steal food!

...which he probably shouldn't say out loud because it really wasn't something to brag about.]

The power of air.

[He called back as casually as riding on a cloud just over the water next to a 13yr-old running across that same water allowed for. Then he glanced behind them because the roar of that boat engine was getting louder and - oh, hey, the guards were catching up with them.]

They're not giving up. We should go higher or you should run faster. Can you fly?

Only with my glider! [That darn earthly tether's holding him down. He's running as if the Unagi's chasing him!]

I can probably run faster... or, you don't think you can carry me, could you? I've never seen an airbending move like that before!

Is that all?

[Wan threw his head back and laughed as he let his cloud fall back behind Aang, spinning as he went. Once he was lined up, he went just low enough to skim the surface of the bay and sped up so he could grab Aang around the waist.

When he was certain he had the other Avatar held securely, he stopped holding back on his speed and shot them out and up, into the sky like a rocket shooting off.]

Y-yeah... that'll be all!

[He's far from the hardest weight to carry after all! He'll go right into the grip with a sheepish laugh, and then he feels the excitement of liftoff!]

Thanks for the lift! Y'know, I'm not used to being the passenger.

I'm not used to having passengers. If you know a better way to carry you, I'm all for it.

[Cause, really, this was a bit awkward.]

Ummm... What if I got on your shoulders, would that work?

Sure!

[Wan loosened his grip so Aang could do what he needed to.]

Where do you want to go? We could circle back to eat on top of the head of your statue. We could go to the park. Anywhere really!

[Aang makes a leap into the air and then goes to land right on Wan's shoulders... slowing his fall with airbending of course so it's not like he's dropping right on him. Then he looks on thoughtfully.]

Hm... I think I like the park better! [Having a big statue of himself, it's kind of weird.]

Park it is!

[Wan sent them higher in the air, just grazing the bottom of the natural clouds moving across the sky, before dropping them in a straight shot at the Republic City Park. He didn't slow down until they were grazing the treetops, grinning from ear to ear at the shocked and wide-eyed stares the two of them brought to those they passed over. Of course, none of the people they flew over could get a good look at them but it was pretty obvious it was a couple of airbenders. Someone would likely say something that would eventually get back to the police which might lead to the cops putting two and two together. He and Aang would also probably be long gone by the time said police started searching the park for the two airbenders that robbed a food cart on Aang Memorial Island and flew off on a cloud.

After landing them gently in a secluded patch of bushes, Wan dropped fluidly into the lotus position and pulled out the lettuce wraps.]

These are going to taste so much better now that they're a prize for getting away.
