☯ 1. The barrier has fallen and the entirety of the Avatar world is open for exploration. If you're going to the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom or any of the Air Temples, you might have a few days to travel. Stuck on a boat, airship or flying bison; yeesh! Those headed to the Fire Nation have the option of taking an ominous-looking portal located on Air Temple Island which will zip them straight there! No matter the destination, the population of each nation seems a little... thinned out.
☯ 2. Do you have an OU counterpart somewhere? Does that counterpart have some kind of bending-related ability? Then today is your lucky today! Gone are the days of bending (or non-bending); today, you get the powers your OU counterpart has! Alternatively, you thought you were out of the woods when everyone else had their bending messed up; not so anymore!
☯ 3. The city is in desperate need of vigilantes. Maybe. Vandals are ruining the city. Some are destroying property while others are making inappropriate graffiti on the walls and streets of the city.
☯ 4. Fresh off the boat? You know, now that all the barriers have dropped? Well you better find yourself a place to live and a place to work; otherwise you might as well make yourself home in Avatar Korra Park or ask for help on Air Temple Island.
[So strange, this small, human girl. Humans are normally so full of themselves, blustering, determined to deny.]
[The Mother of Faces is not convinced by her completely. She has known far too many humans for that. But if Jin offers herself, the Mother will accept her use.]
You will find me the Avatar.
[Nothing will make her comfortable until she understands how and why she has been displaced. Perhaps not even then -- but it is a beginning.]
[Aang. This is an Avatar she recognizes. He will do.]
[As to the girl's question . . . if she had eyebrows to raise, she certainly would now. She doesn't answer . . . though Jin may again gain that strong feeling that she's being watched. If she looks around now, she will see them -- a multitude of small creatures peering out of the vines, patterned in ways that no earthly creature should have been.]
[A larger creature -- a blue wolf, though far too large -- pushes through the vines. It takes a seat beside the pool, regarding Jin with a cool, too-intelligent stare. The outline of a face marks its white chest.]
[ Jin really needed to get better at this feeling spirits around her thing, because when she finally noticed that more started creeping closer she jumped again in surprise. ]
Those markings...
[ Then she noticed the wolf. She'd never seen an animal so beautiful before. Her eyes went wide and she couldn't help but scoot a little closer, hoping not to frighten it. Korra told her if she were to stay kind and approach the spirits gently, they will most likely not act out. ]
[The wolf, at least twice as tall as she is, does not startle. It continues to study her, undaunted and aloof. Its nostrils flare briefly, taking in her scent, and abruptly it burps out an iridescent spirit moth.]
[The Mother can tell that this particular human is easily distracted.]
[This is not the response that the Mother of Faces normally receives, and she cannot decide if the human must have hit her head at some point or if she is being talked down to.]
[Admittedly, it does not quite feel like either, as it seems a little too innocent, but.]
[She will keep an eye on this. She will receive the proper respect that is due her.]

Um... does it matter which one? Things here are kind of all crazy right now and there are two avatars living in the same time.

[The weighted sigh is practically audible in the Mother's words.]
Find me an Avatar, then, human.

[ She paused for a moment. ]
Are you sure you don't want any company right now though?

You have... such incredible friends here, Miss.

As you can see, I am rarely alone.
[More pointedly,]
The Avatar.

[ She paused and gave her a sheepish look. ]
I'll go see if I can go find Aang now. I'm sure he'd want to talk to such a neat spirit like you.

I am the Mother of Faces. He will know me.

[ She stopped standing up to stare at this spirit in awe. ]
That means that my face was given to me with your blessing?

[There's no small measure of pride in her voice. This is her work, her purpose, each made lovingly.]

Then I must thank you for your hard work. It must not be easy, but you do a wonderful job.
