[Funny enough, that's Bumi's full name. Why Bumi, Why.
The older man just laughs, and as he laughs he pulls Zuko into a hug. Because hugs are just a standard issue thing as far as Bumi is concerned. Especially for family, which Zuko is.]

So what happened? Spirit World shenanigans? How did you end up here this...wee. Last I heard you were the right age and wandering the Earth Kingdom.

I... don't know.

[So he really was in the future. Wait a minute.]

Wait, I'm still alive?

[He heard that Aang had died, so he kinda just assumed...]

Unless you know something I don't, which considering how the day has been going...I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised by. You and that dragon of yours.

[Bumi then remembers he's still carrying a bag of Fire Flakes. And that most of their contents are still scattered about his person, including in his hair and beard. So he shakes head head to be free of them, and then offers the now mostly empty bag to Zuko.]

[Since when did he have a dragon? Zuko looks at them a moment then reaches for the Fire Flakes. When he puts one in his mouth, he coughs and spits off to the side.]

Ugh! These are terrible!

[Apparently they don't make them like they use to.]

I know right?

[Bumi says this with a laugh, and just keeps on eating them. Hey, when you're used to K Rations, anything tastes better. Even things that don't taste anything like they're supposed to.]

Way I figure it, there's got to be something about the water in the Fire Nation that just makes the impostors never quite taste the same. Druk won't even eat them, if memory serves. That's your dragon, by the way.

[Zuko glares at Bumi in annoyance. He knows they're terrible but eats them anyway? But then he blinks in surprise.]

I have a dragon?

[There are precious few things in this world that Bumi won't try at least twice. Sub-standard Mass Produced Fireflakes are nothing.]

Named Druk.

[Now he's tossing the flakes into the air and catching them with his mouth. There is not the slightest bit of surprise that this guy is related to Sokka by blood.]

[Zuko continues to stare, the fact that he had a dragon, in his future anyway, is too mindblowing to really care about Bumi's eating habits.]

Well you see, when a momma dragon and a dadda dragon love each other a whole lot...

[The narration did mention the relation to Sokka.
Bumi stops himself mid digression just long enough to laugh at his own joke, going so far as to wipe tears of mirth from his eyes...but forgetting that he had fire flake crumbs on his hands.

Ouch, that's going to smart.]

Druk's from the egg that you and Dad tried to steal from the Sun Warrior temple.

[Zuko is looking rather unamused as Bumi starts a tale of the "birds and bees". Yes. He's starting to see that relation to Sokka now.]

[But at the mention of the egg, Zuko's eyes widen.]

The glowing gem? It was a dragon egg?

[It had felt sort of alive... whoa. He'd never thought that there was a real dragon inside of it though. Or that he would end up with it one day.]

That's what he told me, but then again...Dad told me a whole lot of things, so take that as you will.

[Zuko has to take a moment to digest this. There's so many things he wants to ask, so many things he wants to know. But then, it probably wasn't a good idea to unload all of his questions on this one guy.]

What was Aang like? When he was older I mean.

To hear Mom tell it, not all that much different. Aunt Toph says he got less and less fun the older he got.

[Bumi always did have a soft spot for good ol' Aunt Toph. Mostly because she found his utter disregard for convention hilarious.]

[Well.. that certainly sounds like something Toph would say. And Katara too.]

So does that mean you're an airbender?

[Naturally he would expect to have lots of airbending children in order to repopulate the Air Nomad culture. His culture had always been very important to him after all.]

[He sighs, looking back up at the statue.]

You'd think, but no...not so much. My baby brother Tenzin is the airbender of the family.

Oh...

[Well what does he say to that? I'm sorry? That sucks? ... That just doesn't seem right.]

[His shoulders shift as he quietly laughs to himself.]

[He turns and offers Kid!Zuko a wink, just to let him know that Bumi is okay.]

[Well there's definitely nothing wrong with being a non-bender. Some of his best friends are non-benders after all.]

So then what do you do?

[If he's a non-bender surely he does something. Sokka had his sword, Suki her fans, Ty Lee her chi-blocking, Mai her knives.]

[He turns now, ever so slightly, so that Zuko can see his smirk.]

[Zuko blinked once. Well okay, that's a commendable thing to do, and Zuko has a bit of respect for Bumi to know that he actually joined the military.

And then his mind just stopped, his mouth falling open to gape at the older man.]

At least I hope he's your grandson, otherwise his mother has a whole lot of explaining to do.
